Okay, with a name like Cesspit, you would imagine some death metal Scandinavian band. But you’d be pleasantly surprised that the Cesspit name belongs to a spritely young pop/ska band from Singapore. I mean, spritely does seem to be the most apt word to describe the band of six.
Performing for NUS Radio Pulze’s Live Lounge, they certainly surprised our critical audience with their infectious tunes. In my book, any band that can integrate a trumpet and sax into their set up is A+. Coupling pure energy, a joy for performing and a pretty decent set of songwriting chops, I can really see Cesspit move onto a bigger stage. Another example of local talent, our local music scene is certainly looking promising. Check out their single “Wake Up” HERE!

Who is Kevin Lester? Cover your eyes and just throw one of his tracks and you’d be hard press to differentiate the quality of his rap with that of accomplished rappers. Kevin is a personal favourite with us here at Radio Pulze, not only for his work as part of local super music group SIXX, but also because he is good, plain and simple.
I heard of Kevin Lester a few years back when he did a track with Vanessa Fernandez called Rockstar 2.0 (Youtube it!) and I was an instant fan. Since then, I’ve followed his career from his Kidhood release to his debut “Lets talk about Kevin lester”. Well I may not be that big a follower of the local music scene, but with talent like Kevin, we can rest assured that the +65 flag is flown high.
Check out my favourite song off the “Let’s talk about Kevin Lester” EP below.

Well, if you are into the whole Hip Hop genre, it’s kinda hard to miss out on the meteoric rise of Harlem native A$AP Rocky. Part of the emerging new age of rappers, the self professed indie-rapper has been causing a stir with his intelligent lyrics and penchant for picking sick backing tracks. His highlights of these year? A new EP (Live Love A$AP) and a spot at the grand daddy of all music festivals, Coachella.
Personally, I loved his Deep Purple mix tape and well, was suitably impressed by Live Love A$AP. I found myself replaying the song “Purple Swag” like a million times. Is he as good as I think he is? Well, check the video below and find out yourself. Till tomorrow!

Some of you may recognize him as Troy from the hit comedy, Community, or from his stand up routines as Donald Glover, but Childish Gambino is certainly no slouch in the rap game as well.
Leading the wave of new age rappers (A$AP Rocky, Tyler the Creator etc.), Childish Gambino represents a shift in the rap game, with lyrics taking precedence over rhymes. With the content of his raps largely based on his mediocre life (then again, which real rapper doesn’t do that), one may find his work relatable and a joy to listen.
It is probably very telling that his albums have scored heavy playtime on my itune hitlist. But don’t let my words affect your judgement, just watch the MV of one of my favourite Childish Gambino songs HERE.
